Program

  • Day 1: Mora-Östersund

The journey starts after lunch when the Inlandsbanan takes you from Mora to Östersund. During the journey, the train host will guide you on the southern part of the Inlandsbanan and you will see, among other things, Storstupet and Helvetesfallet. We pass forests where there are plenty of wild animals, if you are lucky you can see both bear, reindeer and moose from the train. We take a coffee stop in Fågelsjö, they are well known for their cinnamon buns! At noon the train arrives in Östersund. Here you stay at the cosy hotel Östersund.

  • Day 2: Östersund-Storlien

The morning begins with a delicious breakfast buffet, then a bus to Storlien awaits. On the way there we stop at Rista Falls, one of Sweden's most powerful waterfalls. Further on we pass Åre before reaching the final destination Storlien. Bags are handed in at the historic Storlien Högfjällshotell and the cookbook Vildplockat is handed out, followed by division into two half groups.

Half the group goes on a guided mountain hike together with the guide company Strövtåg Fjälläventyr. The hike takes you along lush birch forests, rippling streams up to the bare mountain with miles of views of both Norway and Sweden. Here you will learn about flora, reindeer husbandry and history from the border area of Storlien. Lunch is enjoyed in the open air and coffee with dip. Dinner is expected with fantastic views at the hotel.

The other half of the group follows Lena Flaten and Niki Sjölund, who both have a passionate interest in wild picking and food crafts. They will take you out among Storlien's forests and mountains and teach you about mushrooms and edible plants. Lunch is prepared and eaten in the open air.
After the day's activities outside, you can, for example, take a sauna at the hotel before dinner. Then a 5-course dinner awaits you at the restaurant Flammans Skafferi, with local ingredients from the forest, mountains and streams in the area.
